The Gay Men's Chorus of San Diego is proud to present its annual summer concert which this year is entitled "Welcome Home." This fun and fast-paced concert will feature special guests the San Diego Women's Chorus as well as GMCSD's new ensemble Swell! July 3 - Chorus to Sell Festival Passes during Pride Parade
GMCSD plans busy Summer of Travel, Pride, and Concerts
The Gay Men's Chorus of San Diego will once again work in partnership with San Diego LGBT Pride by selling Festival passes from special GMCSD tents set up along the Pride Parade route on Saturday, July 19. This year's Pride Parade will travel its traditional route through Hillcrest, heading west along University before turning south along Sixth Avenue. The Chorus will have a half dozen tents along the way at which GMCSD members will sell two-day Festival passes for $25 and one-day passes for $15. By purchasing their passes during the Pride parade, Festival attendees can save time, avoid the lines at the gate, and support one of San Diego's oldest and largest gay arts organizations at the same time. June 20 - Chorus Receives Funds from Councilmember Frye
GMCSD plans busy Summer of Travel, Pride, and Concerts
The Gay Men's Chorus of San Diego is proud to announce that City Councilmember Donna Frye recently allocated $1,500 to GMCSD in recognition of the important role it plays in the community. These funds will help the Chorus continue to perform throughout the San Diego region, for both GLBT and non-GLBT audiences, in a wide variety of events, locations, settings, and venues. March 31 - Tickets Selling Fast for Chorus Concert
The Gay Men's Chorus of San Diego will kick off its 16th Anniversary Season of Singing Out with its spring concert, "Heart and Soul - Music of the 50s." This hip and hilarious trip down memory lane will be presented on Saturday, April 12, at 8:00 pm and then again on Sunday, April 13, at 2:00 pm. March 17 - Spring Cleaning Carwash with the Chorus
The Gay Men's Chorus invites you to a Fabulous Fifties carwash in The LGBT Center's parking lot this Saturday, March 22, from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm. Everyone whose car or truck is in need of a spring cleaning is invited to join in the fun as Chorus members volunteer to get all lathered up for a good cause. In keeping with the theme of GMCSD's spring concert, "Heart and Soul - Music of the 50s," attendees can sing along with the Chorus to songs from that era and get their picture taken with a vintage car that will also make the scene. The suggested donation is $10 per vehicle, and all moneys raised will help Chorus members represent San Diego at this summer's GALA Festival in Miami. Chorus Keeps Busy with Special Events
Oscars Party, Portrait Sittings, and Fifties Carwash all Contribute to Exciting Spring Semester
The Gay Men's Chorus of San Diego will participate in the GALA Choruses Festival this summer in Miami and GMCSD has already staged a number of successful fundraising events. The Chorus held an Oscars night party at a private residence on February 24 with food and beverages donated by Baja Betty's, Napa Valley Grille, and Urban Mo's. Dozens of Chorus supporters walked the red carpet, watched the Academy Awards telecast on big screen televisions, and cast their votes for the winners. February 21 - Diversionary and Gay Men's Chorus team up for Trolley Follies gala cabaret; cast of "Altar Boyz" will make special appearance
Diversionary Theatre and the Gay Men's Chorus of San Diego have teamed up a second year for a spectacular gala cabaret that will benefit both organizations. "Trolley Follies of 2007" will be held at Diversionary on Saturday, March 3, and will feature the music of Kander & Ebb, one of Broadway's most beloved musical theatre teams, and the cast of the national tour of Altar Boyz will make a special appearance courtesy of Broadway San Diego. January 29 - Gay Men's Chorus Offers Community Music Classes
Gay Men's Chorus of San Diego announces that its Artistic Director Gary Holt will be leading an eight-week series of beginning music classes on Wednesday evenings for interested singers. These classes will be held from 6:00-6:45 pm beginning on Wednesday, February 7, inside the University Christian Church, 3900 Cleveland Avenue, across from the DMV in Hillcrest. Registration is free of charge to anyone who currently sings in any member chorus of the Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses (GALA).
